In a month or so

... we will no longer be breathing in our neighbors' secondhand smoke
... we will no longer have to listen to a screaming tweenager
... we will no longer have our driveway blocked by parents dropping off/picking up their kids at the high school
... we will no longer have to buy rolls of quarters for laundry
... we will no longer have to climb any stairs to get "home" (unless we feel like walking the stairs)
... we will no longer have access to a pool that should be warm but is always cold
... we will no longer have inaccessible management

... we will have good airflow through the apartment, without having to run fans in every window or a wall-unit a/c
... we will be able to play Rock Band 4 without disturbing any downstairs neighbors
... we will have to drive for the Costco Walking/Sampling Lunch
... we will have to drive to IKEA or any mall
... we will be able to do laundry whenever we damn well feel like it
... we will have secure underground parking for my car, and first-floor parking for a bicycle or two
... we will have a bicycle for Stephen, if not also one for me
... we will be back in our old 'hood, which is great for walking, or biking, or I can join the Y if I really miss swimming so much
... we will have an on-site manager who can help us with any issues we may encounter (and so far, she reminds me so much of my Dear Friend Ms. F)

Here's what we have to do in that month or so:

  • put in notice with current management (like, NOW, or as soon as Marge calls to say we're in)
  • put a security deposit on the new place
  • buy a refrigerator to be delivered on Move-In Day One
  • pack up the crap
  • move the crap
  • love on the furbabies
  • carefully/gently/lovingly get the furbabies moved
  • Continue Our Employment Streaks

Here's what we don't have to do in the next month:
  • Apartment Hunt

#Hallelujah #Blessed #ForeverHome?

Call us, Marge. We're sittin' on pins-n-needles here. Somehow, it's not that uncomfortable. :)

  1. Congrats, Sweetie!~!!!! Lots of good stuff happening that way lately.

    1. We got it! But not without a few more "urgent" and "costly in the short-term" caveats. Security deposit gets paid tomorrow, and then we have to pay for 1/3 September for move-in (we weren't looking as early as 21st, but that's what they require); notice was given at old place, but they won't allow fewer than 30 days, even on a month-to-month, and even with the whole smoking dealio, so we'll pay 7 days on October HERE. AAARGH.

But on the upside: PLENTY of time to move, and we'll be more DONE with this place than we already are. We both had a stressful day today, but we also both felt incredibly happy/at peace.

It's all good. Thanks for your support. :)

  2. Alright! Congratulations! This will be a nice upgrade.

Sorry, haven't posted in a while. I was on holidays in August and I got hit with this crazy flu, then bronchitis took over right after. I was laid out literally for over a week and a half. I felt like absolute shit. I've never been hit with something so hard before. I'm still coughing a bit and it's been 4 weeks today since I got it. I either got hit with a superbug or my CFS was playing a part. I've been sick before with my CFS, and I've never been out more then a couple of days. It was nuts. Anyway, I think I'm getting close to being 100% again (well 100% for me). But I'm glad you've got a new place finally. Hopefully you're very happy with your new home.

    1. Hey, I was wondering where exactly you'd fallen off the planet, Lee. Lucky for you, I don't have that many posts for you to catch up on. However, 1/2 a 1000 does, and I know you read her, too, which means I'm going to have to go back and read her last month's posts for your comments! Yikes!

Ennyhoo, I'm glad you're beginning to feel better. Sick Sucks. And YES, we are VERY happy.

  3. Congrats! When all the stresses of moving finally ebb I am sure you'll have some real peace of mind.

    1. Yes, thanks. Stresses are beginning to ebb already, even. Yay.

  4. Hey, my wife and I started watching Gilmore Girls. Which season's are you on again? Is it season 3-7? I can't remember what you told me.

  5. In one of the early seasons, I stood in for Liza Weil (off camera) a couple of times. I worked ONE DAY as a townsperson in the new, not-yet-released "Gilmore Girls:Seasons" coming to Netflix. Doubt that you'll see me. We watch Gilmore Girls because we love it. I worked it because I love it. I doubt you'll even see me in the one episode I worked most recently.

If ya wanna SEE me A LOT on camera, ya gotta watch the first three seasons of MadMen.

  6. Haven't seen anything from you in a while. Hope the move went well and you are doing good.

I LOVE your feedback; give it to me, Baby. Uh-huh, uh-huh.
