How Does One Dress for This Weather?

Got up super-early so I could get to the set of The Muppets by my 7 a.m. call time, and even though I knew what I'd be wearing today (I play a server in Rowlf's Tavern, when they use me), I happened to look at the weather on my phone just to see what the temp was in that hour.

Think about that statement, kids. Ten years ago, no one would ever have made that statement: "I looked at my phone to check the weather". Right? Technology = Weird.

Ennyhoo, I'm glad I knew how to dress today, because if I'd gotten up with no plans for the day, or with slightly later plans that involved an early drive, How The Heck Would I Have Dressed?

Just in case anyone's concerned that I've "disclosed" something I'm not supposed to, my first episode as a server in the bar has already aired, so you've probably already seen me (I know I did), and you probably already know that Rowlf has a bar and I serve there. No NDA breakage. Thanks for your concern. :)

  1. Wait. What? 1 degree Fahrenheit seems a bit off. Especially with that 87 degree jump. Is it the end times in Burbank?

    1. That was the point of this post, duh. ;) I think it may have been a glitch in either the weather app or Android.

  2. Hi Emelle! Don't know if you'll remember us but my friend and I from 'SCOATLAND' (as you liked to say :) ) were on one of your Warner bros tours a few weeks ago. Just wanted to say we had an absolutely excellent time and it was by FAR our favourite experience in our entire trip between LA and Vegas! You were an excellent (and hilarious) tour guide and I was so shocked to read your blog and see you had only been doing the job a few months - I assumed you had been doing this for 10-plus years given all your knowledge and jokes! It's so cool to see that you do background acting as well! You should do stand up comedy too!!! Anyway just wanted to say hi from SCOATLAND and hope you're well!

    1. PS we are 2 guys, I'm the guy who got off the cart outside the house in the woods and knocked on the fibreglass rocks on the wall if that jogs your memory haha

    2. Thank you so much for this rave review, Scoatland! ;)

I'm so glad you had fun on my tour. The reason I have all the knowledge I do is because of my background (no pun intended) in the film and television industry. I have no intention of doing stand-up comedy, though. That world is Brutal.

p.s. "welcome to the jungle" :)

  3. No problem! I can't wait to come back to LA and do the full VIP tour now, we can only hope you'll be our guide again if you're still around!!

Seriously though it was one of the best experiences I have ever done, so interesting, informative and funny and that was all down to your extensive knowledge and sense of humour so a huge thank you from both of us for some great memories :)

I wish I knew of an email address of a boss or something so that I could write up a proper review and send in for you!

If it jogs your memory as to which group we were - we were on the tour where you got a call about an 'emergency' while we were in the Conan set and you had to swiftly exit and move the cart! Much hilarity ensued...

Do you hope that your position is made permanent or do you need to stay 'seasonal' due to the background acting commitments?

    1. P.S. I'm a temporary employee, both at Warner Bros and in my other film/tv gigs. I kinda like it that way.

Please don't link this blog or reference this conversation in any messages with the boss. It's no secret that I have a blog, but I don't need to change the work dynamic because of it, if you get my drift.

      Cheers!

You can sing my praises over at tripadvisor.com, or send an email to my boss, my.boss@warnerbros.com. I definitely remember the emergency over at the Conan set, but you needn't reference that if you email My Boss.

Again, thanks so much for the high praise!

  4. Of course not, and I won't mention anything about the blog so don't worry :)

And you are very welcome, thank you again for an amazing day!

    One praise-singing-email coming up! ..

    1. Cool, thank you - I'll be deleting his email address now so that it's not "out there" for the entire world.

  5. Damn, I didn't take a note of the email - could you let me know one more time and I will write it down for later then you can delete the comment? :)

    1. It's probably better to leave a great review on tripadvisor.com than to contact my boss directly. When I get home, I'll see if blogspot will let me PM you.

  6. Right now I have to wear a vest top, t shirt, sweater, jacket, winter coat, hat, mittens and scarf - that way I peel of one layer at a time as the day wears on because it ends up so warm in the day! Won't be long til those minus temps though :(

Technology is super weird, but I sure do appreciate knowing at all times what the weather is expected to do!

    1. Yeah, I hate the idea of "light layers" - I grew up in Miami, and I always expect Los Angeles to not have drastic weather changes (it ALWAYS takes me by surprise when the weather cools sufficiently to need long sleeves ALL DAY).

I LOVE your feedback; give it to me, Baby. Uh-huh, uh-huh.
