Or, YOU could be the one that takes the "long way home"

Roll down your windows, turn off your phone.  See your Life as a gift from the Great Unknown, and your task is to Receive It.

  • Tell the kids a story
  • Hold your lover tight
  • Make a Joyful Noise
  • Swim naked at night
  • Read a poem a day
  • Call in "well" sometimes, and LAUGH when they believe it!
Thank you, Mary Chapin Carpenter

WE HAVE ARRIVED, via the "long way home."  Today, we got the keys to our new address.  For the first time in my life, I am now a resident of Burbank California.  The "long way" was via North Carolina, for the last 20 months, and then Florida, South Carolina, and Whittier, California.

Thank you, everyone, particularly my sister, InnerHippie, for your prayers, good vibes, and assistance in "keeping the faith" with us.  Tonight, we spend our last night in the Motel 6 that has housed us and the furbabies for the bulk of this last week.  It's been a not-too-unpleasant stay, with a not-terrible drive home.  Don't get me wrong - we've been happy to have a place to park the babies - we just won't be returning to Whittier for anything but visiting with friends who just happen to love it here more than we do.

  1. Yay! Yay! Yay! Looking forward to getting that address from you (you know, in case I ever send out a Christmas card or something). Love you and I'm so happy you're home at last. Burbank, huh? Well, that sounds downright posh. :-)

  2. It sorta IS posh... the space is quite lovely. We both got pretty hot loading whatever we had transported in the car, so we ran the AC in the space... won't be doing a lot of that, because it didn't seem to help, and at this current hour, there's a nice little cross-breeze. Got everything moved in that DIDN'T get shipped (we'll get that stuff this weekend), and once the cats arrived in the space, they've been camped out in cabinets and DRAWERS all day. You'll get the address, promise.
